Our History
Est. 1980The Aldridge Early Learning Center is a growing daycare center located in East Moline, Illinois. For many years it was East Moline’s only licensed childcare center. Opening in early 1980, the center had been the vision of Mrs. Florence Aldridge.
For many years Mrs. Aldridge worked with elected officials to secure state and federal funds to build the Center. She gained the support of then East Moline Mayor Denny Jacobs, who was amazed at how persistent Mrs. Aldridge was.
The childcare center opened with a licensed capacity of 27 children. Over the next few years the center established itself as being a viable part of the community. With the demand for childcare increasing, so did the center’s licensed capacity. The growth of the daycare program resulted in the need for more space .
As of February 2004 we moved into our new childcare facility and changed the center’s name from the Florence Aldridge Child Development Center to the Aldridge Early Learning Center.
We are currently licensed (by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services) to serve 151 children ages 6 weeks through 12 years.
We offer a well-balanced selection of activities for children, including teacher directed activities (that encompass the academics), child initiated activities gross and fine motor. The Creative Curriculum® is our developmental assessment system. Many of the learning objectives from the Illinois Early Learning Standards are included in our lesson plans.
